Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information we collect on the BonusOut website (bonusout-nz.com), why we collect it, who may see it, how long we keep it and what you can do if you have a question or a concern.
This policy applies only to our activities on bonusout-nz.com. It does not apply to information collected offline or through channels other than this website. It is general information about how we handle personal information and is not legal advice.
Who is responsible
BonusOut operates bonusout-nz.com and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For anything to do with privacy, email us at info@bonusout-nz.com or use our contact page.
BonusOut is an information website. We do not run gambling games and we do not take payments, so we never ask you for card details, bank details or identity documents.
Personal information we collect
Personal information is information about an identifiable individual. If something could identify you, on its own or combined with other details, we treat it with care.
Information you give us
- Messages – your name, email address, the content of your message and any attachments, when you contact us by email.
- Newsletter details – your email address, if we send a newsletter and you subscribe.
We will tell you what we need and why when we ask. You do not have to give us personal information to read the website.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data – your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the date and time of your visit, the pages you view and the page you came from. Most web hosts keep this kind of information in log files.
- Cookie data – preferences, pages visited and device information, as described in the Cookies section.
Why we use it
We use personal information only for purposes connected with running the website:
- Operating and securing the website – keeping pages available, fixing faults and protecting the site from misuse.
- Understanding how the website is used – measuring traffic and improving our guides.
- Answering your enquiry – replying to your message and keeping a record of the conversation.
- Sending updates – newsletters or similar messages, only where you have asked for them.
- Advertising and affiliate tracking – recording whether a visitor arrived through, or followed a link to, a partner site so that the partner can be credited correctly.
We aim to handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. We do not sell your personal information.
Consent and your choices
Where the law requires us to ask for your consent, we will ask for it. You can also control cookies yourself, as described in the Cookies section.
You can change your mind at any time by changing your browser settings or emailing info@bonusout-nz.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did with your information before you withdrew it. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link in the message.
Cookies
What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Websites use them to keep pages working, to remember your preferences and to measure how a site is used. We may also use similar technologies, such as web beacons (tracking pixels).
Cookies we may use
- Essential cookies – keep the website working and secure.
- Analytics cookies – show us which pages are visited and for how long, so that we can improve our content. We may use tools such as Google Analytics for this.
- Form and newsletter cookies – remember details you enter in a form or whether you have subscribed.
- Advertising and affiliate cookies – let a partner see that a visitor came from our website so that the partner can credit us correctly.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by other companies, for example analytics providers, advertising networks and affiliate partners. We cannot access or control them. These companies may receive your IP address and information about your device directly from your browser. Each of them has its own privacy policy, which explains how it handles that information.
How to manage cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Your browser’s help pages explain how. Blocking cookies may stop parts of this and other websites from working properly.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed to run the website or where the law requires it. This may include:
- our web hosting and technical support providers
- analytics providers
- advertising and affiliate partners and their networks
- our newsletter delivery provider, if we send a newsletter
- government agencies or courts, where we are legally required to provide information
These providers may use the information only for the services they supply to us or, in the case of advertising and affiliate partners, for their own tracking and reporting.
Information held outside New Zealand
Some of the companies described above, such as analytics and advertising providers, may store or process information outside New Zealand. Information held in another country is subject to that country’s laws. We do not control where those providers keep their data. Where we choose a provider, we look for one that states how it protects the information it holds.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as long as the law requires. In general:
- Technical and log data – for a limited period, then deleted or anonymised.
- Analytics data and cookies – for the period set in each tool.
- Emails and other correspondence – for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
- Newsletter details – until you unsubscribe.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove anything that could identify you.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No website or online service can be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection.
Access and correction
The Privacy Act 2020 gives you the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. You can ask us:
- for access – to tell you what personal information we hold about you and to give you a copy
- to correct it – if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete
- to delete it – and we will do so unless we need to keep it for a legal reason
- to stop using it – for example to stop sending you newsletters
Email info@bonusout-nz.com with your request. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it, and we will tell you if we cannot do what you ask and why.
Complaints
If you think we have interfered with your privacy, please write to us first at info@bonusout-nz.com. We will look into it and reply to you.
If we cannot resolve the matter, or you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The Office does not accept a complaint until you have first tried to resolve the issue with the organisation involved, so please contact us before you go to the Office. Its website explains how to make a complaint.
Children
bonusout-nz.com is for people who are 18 years or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a child has given us personal information, email info@bonusout-nz.com and we will remove it.

BonusOut may link to government agencies, support services and other third-party websites, and some links may be affiliate links. We are not responsible for those websites, their content or how they handle personal information. Once you follow a link, that website’s own privacy policy applies. You can read how we are funded on our How we make money page.
